Hi Thomas,

My sons and I took T-Cat (Hammerhead) water skiing this week end. My sons are 27 and 26.  We ski in the ocean outside of Marina del Rey north of Santa Monica Pier.

We all love the boat.  Compared to the Ceasar ...there is no comparison.  T-Cat is far more stable.  During hard water ski cuts, well not so hard as it was not very smooth, T-Cat steered straight.  The boat throws no wake.  It is a delight to ski behind.

There were only a couple of questions:

1)  The prop cavitates on pulling out the water skier.  To eliminate the cavitation with two people in the boat we moved as far forward as possible and could pull up the skier.  To eliminate this problem would shims between the mounting bracket and the transom, to change the motor angle, work?  What would you recommend?

2) Where the motor sits on the transom there is about a 1/16 " gap between the bottom of the motor mount and the top of the transom.  A lot of water spits in through this gap at medium speed.  I am thinking of putting a piece of tape over this gap. Any other suggestions?

That's it.  The boat is terrific.  The details are great.  The pump fits all the fitting.  All the pump fittings are the  same.  She does not leak air. The forward storage in the airfoil is great.  My sons feel that there is less of a feeling that the bow will rise up and flip compared to the Ceasar.  Marvin Sachse. 2016

2015  This boat id by far the best boat I have ever seen.  I have followed Dux Boats from the onset, and I am impressed at the new and improved craftsmanship, materials, service and the amazing advanced ride.  Jerry Paradise.

Just wanted you to know that as we are on our cruise at Watch Hill, RI and Block Island, our Duxling is attracting a ton of attention.  Regular inflatable owners are envious of how much room we have and how stable the boat is as we get on and off of it.  Hard bottom tender owners are envious as we go speeding by them making destinations most tender owners can't get to easily accessible for us.  No one, unless they own a much bigger tender can believe it when we tow kids on a tube either!!  Everyone asks what our tender is and we tell everyone that it's a DUX.  Many thanks for making the ULTIMATE tender!!

I’ve had a Dux Hammerhead for almost 4 year’s now. When I bought it, it was all ready semi modified, and pretty fast I thought. Anyway I called dux boat’s and Tom Chaffee took my call.

We talked about my boat and what had been done to it. He invited me down to his place and to my surprise Tom and his wife Tina completely rebuilt the transom

to make sure it was safe for the large 85hp Mercury outboard I had at the time. They went over the whole boat and addressed potential issues and fixed a few things in the shop. Well we have become very good friends since then, even a few more trip’s without the boat. Tom has always been very honest with me, I know and heard all the story’s and had contract with some of them. In all there’s only a few people that had a gripe, and they were all competitors and one really nasty person whom would not use his name. So here’s the thing, Dux boat’s builds one hell of a boat as all his products. My boat is A 2001 I have since modified it a lot! put a 115 hp in line six Mercury, that is ported so it’s very strong running, I did put gusset’s from the floor to transom for additional support for wt and hp the boat it self has not been touched. This boat has been clocked at over 86 mph (gps) and been doing it all year long, two to four times a week. I love my boat it’s a lot of fun. The jet skis can’t keep up, in fact most boat’s can’t either. what I’m saying is this is one strong rubber boat. I run in the Sacramento river and some time’s has a lot of junk floating in it, I never got a hole in it from hitting it, I try not too but this Boat is moving fast. I would let my mother drive this boat it’s that safe. It Handel’s great turn’s like a F-1 boat, it’s just a great boat! By the way I’m 65 year’s old and plan to keep going fast, I know the new boat’s are even better and I look forward to getting one so I can hit that 100mph mark, I’m not worried about the boat handling it. See my video’s on YouTube; Rogers fast dux. Very cool Tom. The best to you my friend This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you want too go fast too, get a hold of me and tom and we will make you one. Roger Horton.

DUX boats are great boats and I have had a positive experience dealing with Mr. Thomas Chaffee

Dux Boats, Tom Chaffee, Thomas Chaffee, Inflatable ProductionsDux Boats Tom Chaffee Thomas Chaffee Inflatable Productions Tom Chaffee is a good, honest businessman, the boats are great quality and fun Greenville Michigan

By happenstance, I ended up doing business with and buying a boat from Mr. Thomas Chaffee of Dux Boats. The transactions went great, and I have nothing but great things to report about the quality of the boats and the relationship with Mr. Chaffee.

Before I entered into any transactions, I came up on this report; I did some due dlligence and found nothing else other than the slander in this site.

I proceeded cautiously with my business deals with Mr. Chaffee and have checked the quality of the boat thoroughly (they're built like a vault).

If you're looking for one of these boats, the Dux I got from Mr. Chaffee could not be better quality or more fun, the advice/honesty I got from him was sound. I highly recommend the Dux brand, the owner, Mr. Chaffee, and the relationship.

BTW, I did talk to other owners that were all very happy with their boats and echoed my sentiments.

Tom,
Glad to see your still in the mix. My boat as the year went on got better from your help and internet help off Scream & Fly. I see the newer web site as well. Looks great. Are the boats still made here in Michigan? The pump issue is as it was when we last visited it. The hand pump still pops off when pumped to far up. It however is ok at half strokes. I have updated to a diving tank and regualtor for air touch-ups. That works awesome, especially since it is in the water on a self standing rack on Lake Huron. Next year I can really start showing the boat with confidence it performs as designed.

Cupping the prop settled all the problems of water over the transom and not getting up to run on plane. With the Tohatsu 50hp it has been running with me and my son on GPS 64 mph.

Glad to see your at the very least in a warmer climate.

We have put our custom, 12' DUX through the Alaskan field-test, & it has performed flawlessly. We have had Sharks, Halibut, Deer, Goats, & Grizzly Bears on board without any problems. Combined with a 15 hp short-shaft Honda, it makes a great exploration craft for my Hunting & Fishing trips in Prince William Sound. Thanks for a great boat!

It was great speaking with you today; we are excited to build a working relationship with you and your company.

Check out our program at www.broneah.com, as I told you, we are the largest kiteboarding shop and school in the Midwest, hosting instructional camps all summer and winter season in Michigan, with spring camps in Puerto Rico.

After checking out your product, there is no doubt that it would not only work perfect for our sport, but we believe people up here in Northern Michigan would be really attracted to the Dux style.

As for the Redbull event, we would like to have one of your boats on site to be used for a rescue vehicle. We could also have one of your boats on display parked in the lot at the event and we could keep a boat there on display and in the water the entire time for people to see.

Again, we are really looking forward to working with you.

For four summers now I have been using my Dux Hammerhead 13' inflatable with a Mercury 25 HP motor as a pickup boat for kiteboarding on the Columbia River, which is one of the best and most popular kiteboarding venues in the U.S. The boat serves several functions: First, it allows me to take one or two kiteboarders at a time to a safer launch site than the public sites that are becoming increasingly overcrowded and dangerous. Second, it allows me to monitor and even coach beginning kiteboarders from a safe and practical upwind position. Third, it allows me to pick up and sometimes rescue kiteboarders who suffer equipment breakdowns, when the wind dies or becomes too strong, or when the kiteboarder sails too far downwind to sail back or walk back along the shore, or when the kiteboarder sails into a dangerous or environmentally protected area.

The Hammerhead easily accommodates two adult kiteboarders each with board and kite, plus me the driver. I have on occasion rescued three adolescent kiteboarders at one time.

I have several times been picked up while kiteboarding by a waverider, and I can tell you that the Hammerhead is far superior. It is difficult to balance on the back of a waverider while holding one's kite and board with one arm/hand and at the same time trying with the other arm/hand to hold onto the hand rail or driver. In addition to being uncomfortable, the waverider must be driven slowly to avoid a spill, while the Hammerhead can be driven fairly fast.

I'm actually proud of the fact that I bought the Hammerhead in 2000 before I started kiteboarding, anticipating, correctly as it turns out that it would be the ideal boat for this purpose based on its stable platform. I have not been disappointed, and the many kiteboarders I have picked up or rescued have bought me a lot of beers!

I am quite interested in your product line. I remember seeing something on TV about these "Dux" boats and I was very impressed. It was some time ago and I could not remember the name. However, I was at my cottage recently and my neighbor had one of your boats in his driveway. I quickly went to see him and ask where he got it. He said that he was in Africa and had it shipped home when he came back. I asked him where I could get one and he didn't know, but he would not ever sell his.

I am a full-time firefighter and I also own a training company that specializes in water rescue. We have been teaching water rescue for the past 10 years and have trained hundreds of fire and police personnel all over the province of Ontario, Canada. When I saw your boat, I thought of the possibilities...

The fire department that we did the demo for called me today. Zodiac was in today with a hundred thousand dollar boat to sell to the fire department. The deputy chief and all his men agreed that there was no contest, Dux Rescue Boats are better in every way for fire service and that is what they are going to get.

As the owner of a small business, I always appreciate getting feedback on our products and services. I am sure that you are the same way, which is why I am writing you this letter.

I am the owner of a rescue training company that has been training Police departments and Fire departments for the last 13 years. Occasionally, a new product comes along that provides a paradigm shift in the way that we do business. Your Dux rescue boat is one of those products.

While other boats are o.k., we have found the Dux rescue boat to be the best rescue boat that we have ever used. Its exceptional stability in rough water provides a rescue platform that gives you complete confidence in your own safety, which is one thing you should never need to worry about.

With a huge payload capacity, we are never overwhelmed by multiple casualty situations. Combined with the incredible speed that this boat delivers, even with a small outboard motor, facilitating an effective rescue is the usual outcome, rather than just a body recovery.

With our own lives on the line every day that we enter the water, we are very picky about the boats that we use, and therefore, although we can use any boat out there, we will only be using the "Dux" from now on.

My hat goes off to you, the manufacturer of the Dux rescue boat, it has made our job of water rescue just that much safer.
